Definitions

Spiritualism
The belief that human beings exist after death.
Mediumship
The ability of a person to contact spirits, angels, or other entities and relate these experiences to others.
Spirit Medium
Spirit mediums are able to contact spirits of loved ones and provide a communication link or bridge to the living.
Psychic Medium
A medium who has the ability to engage psychic senses during a spirit reading.
Channelling
The ability of some mediums to receive information from a teaching spirit.
Spirit Guide
A spirit who connects other spirits with a medium.
Spirit Communicator
A spirit who communicates with a medium.
Clairvoyance
The ability to see things that don't have a physical appearance, including spirits of the dead. This is sometimes referred to as "Clear Seeing."
Clairaudience
The ability to hear spirits. This is sometimes referred to as "Clear Hearing."
Claircognizance
The ability to know something without receiving it through normal senses. Sometimes referred to as "Clear Knowing."

The First Book of Samuel (Old Testament) describes a spirit reading that the Witch of Endor provides for Saul that predicted the defeat of the Israel army by the Philistines as well as the death of Saul and his sons.
